Tocqueville Women's Leadership

"If I were asked ... to what the singular prosperity and growing strength of that people (the Americans) ought mainly to be attributed, I should reply to the superiority of their women,"

French aristocrat and political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville observed and stated.

True in 1835 - True in 2008!

In 2008, Tocqueville Women's Leadership received a national Fleur-de-Lis Award for Excellence from United Way of America for most members.

Tocqueville Women's Leadership is made of women representing diverse leadership roles including community, family and business, who join through either a personal gift or an honorarium from a colleague or family member.

Tocqueville Women's Leadership members give $10,000 or more annually to United Way to support issues of particular importance to women. The contribution is undesignated, or given in support of a United Way focus area or strategic initiative.

Tocqueville members inspire national leadership. . .

. . . through excellence and vision. United Way of Greater Greensboro's Women's Leadership inspired United Way of America to launch a national Women's Leadership program.
