Building Blocks for a Good Life: Health
Consider this: According to the Alcohol/Drug Council of NC, in 2003 there was an estimated 31,224 people addicted to alcohol or drugs in Guilford County and an estimated 156,00 people affected, including family members and children.
Our vision is that all people in Greater Greensboro have the opportunity to maximize their physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being by:
- Helping people with specialized healthcare needs find health care, support, and education services
- Reducing the number of people with destructive behavioral health or substance abuse problems
- Helping underserved ethnic and cultural minorities find education and health services
More specifically, United Way advances the common good by creating long-lasting changes that address the underlying problems that threaten the health of citizens of our community. Locally, United Way of Greater Greensboro is Caring for Everyone's Health by funding 13 programs that speak to the greatest health needs in our community.
