In response to the growing demand for food and emergency shelter in Greater Greensboro brought on by the current economic crisis, Operation Greensboro Cares is an effort developed to address emergency needs in Greater Greensboro. United Way of Greater Greensboro will accept contributions beginning December 4, 2008 and will efficiently disperse funds to organizations helping those in greatest need.

United Way of Greater Greensboro and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro are partnering with the News & Record, WFMY News 2, Dick Broadcasting, and Leapfrog Marketing PR & Design to help our neighbors in need.

Greensboro, NC-- Three kids in Greensboro decided they could do more than spend their allowance money on themselves.

They decided to spread their wealth and give to a charitable organization that helps others.

Tuesday morning, 13 year-old Jake Froelich, 11 year-old brother Harrison Froelich and their 7 year-old sister Lucy walked into United Way of Greensboro and handed them $167 in cash.

They want the money to go specifically to Operation Greensboro Cares. It was setup in November by United Way to help people having financial hardships in Greensboro.
